Tim Kottyan

Tim Kottyan currently works full time as the Shop Supervisor for the School of Filmmaking at UNCSA where he helps mentor students in scenic engineering, construction and installation as well as special effects. He is also the Technical Supervisor for Majestic Scenic, a full-service design and fabrication company based in Winston Salem, which he helps run alongside his talented life partner Jessica. While sometimes hectic, he enjoys the balance between helping educate future generations of artisans with being able to work on large scale productions for clients like Netflix and Tectonic Theatre Company. “We also love supporting our local/regional Arts & Entertainment community partners like Piedmont Opera, Charlotte Ballet, Triad Stage, and Peppercorn theatre.”

Tim’s imdb credits include work on such films as “The Patriot,” “Deceiver,” and “The Ultimate Life.” On the rare occasion that he has time to spare, he enjoys freelancing at TAIT Towers where he has had the opportunity to work on sets for Elton John, Lady Gaga, and Cirque Du Soleil among others.

Having spent his life in the Carolinas, Tim previously served as Technical Director for the Charlotte Repertory Theatre, North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, and Festival Stage. He was also a Master Carpenter and TD for Spoletto Fest USA while pursuing a Degree in Theatre at the College of Charleston.

Though normally behind the scenes, he does like to stretch his legs on stage once in a while as a singer-songwriter. Along with a love for Homesteading, Tim also enjoys building custom furniture and still does some consultation for Kitchen Design.
