Karen Parlato
Karen Parlato has been a professional stage manager for over 20 years, and a member of Actors Equity since 2003. She has always been based in New York, but her career has taken her to regional and stock theatres, tours and events all over the United States.
While the vast majority of her work is as a production stage manager, she also enjoys acting as an ASM, and has been a sub on the Broadway production of The Phantom of the Opera since 2004, where she has done hundreds of performances calling, decking and training new subs.
While she specializes in large musicals, she also has experience with Off-Broadway, Shakespeare, and the development of new plays and musicals. Notable companies she has worked with include Ogunquit Playhouse, The Acting Company / Guthrie Theatre, Crossroads Theatre Company, and the Fulton Theatre. In 2007 she created a blog which became HeadsetChatter.com, a website offering tips, stories, and information about stage management which is popular with students and educators, and today is supplemented by her Twitter account @HeadsetChatter.
