David Lane
David Lane is a composer of several short and independent films and over 100 concert works. He is also the arranger and music director of The Collins Boy, a new musical that was most recently showcased and in the 2019 Atlanta Music Theatre Festival starring Lisa Howard, with music and lyrics by Brad Bass and Cari Joy. He has served as music director for several dozen theatrical productions since 2009 for community theatres and schools, including Salem College and Greensboro Day School. He has a Bachelor of Music from Jacksonville University (FL) where he studied composition with Dr. William Schirmer and piano with Prof. Eugene Hudson, and a Master of Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts where he studied film music composition with David McHugh, music technology with Dr. Michael Rothkopf, and jazz arranging with Ronald Rudkin. He has been teaching privately to students of piano, theory, and composition since 2000. He is the creator and host of the podcast LIFE IN THE PIT, where he interviews musicians who play for musical theatre. He lives in Winston-Salem, NC.
