Meet Your Expert: Mixing on Broadway
with Maxine Gutierrez

From Theme Park to Broadway Musical Touring to consistently working on Broadway, Maxine Gutierrez has much to share from her experiences as a sound engineer and Broadway A1. Maxine began her career touring as an A1 in 2007 - playing all fifty states and internationally to Colombia, Costa Rica, Japan, Panama, and Venezuela. Her past tours include: CATS, Rock of Ages, Catch Me If You Can, the recent revival of Evita, and the recent revival of Pippin. From Tokyo, she headed straight to NYC to mix the Broadway run of the Tony-nominated play, King Charles III, then covering the mix at The Color Purple Revival. Since then, Max held the position as A1 at the recent revival of CATS, the Tony-winning revival of Once on this Island, and now at the Tony-winning Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway.

A 25 year veteran of the pro audio industry, Jamie started his career as a studio and touring bass player while also serving as a studio and mastering engineer, a house composer and audio and music professor. His first manufacturer job was with Alesis in 1998 and since has held posts with various sales organizations including Tascam, QSC and Harman. He was the US Tour and Rental Manager with JBL/Crown for five years. In 2015 he accepted that same position with Sennheiser becoming the Production Director for the US, Canada and ANZ. Jamie accepted the position of Business Development Manager in July of 2020. He currently resides in High Point, NC where all of his Zoom meetings are interrupted by one of his four dogs.

Join Jamie Criswell (Sennheiser Business Development Manager) and Max as they talk about her career as a Broadway engineer and sound designer. Max will go in depth on show prep, script technique, mixing on Broadway, and the challenges in the industry both related and not related to the pandemic. This session will allow questions from participants to be asked in real time so bring your questions with you!
